If I had to give an “average” time – I’d say it about a month and a half. However, when it comes to designing a website for a person or company there are a lot of factors that can influence a project’s length. In general terms, it usually takes a couple of weeks for onboarding and creating the initial designs. Then it’s just a matter of implementing the design concepts into a functional site. That timeframe of course varies depending on the complexity of the end design and the platform it is going to be built on.
What takes the longest for most projects isn’t the design, it’s finding/creating/organizing a site’s content. Having completed hundreds of websites and web projects, experience has taught me that creating the content for a site is without a doubt the biggest stumbling block. The best way to prevent this stage from slowing down your project, is to come prepared with a detailed outline of the content you’ll want and even better, to have that content already written out and organized.
Yes, we offer ongoing website maintenance and support. What we offer varies dependent on what our client is looking for. For some clients, we provide monthly service packages. For others we’ll create new graphics for special events and holiday promotions. Then again, for other clients we’ll provide email management or monthly blog writing. One of our slogans is “We Build Business”. It’s a broad tag line as we provide a broad range of digital support services tailored to our individual client.
We’ll do our best to avoid any costly disruptions to the organic placement of your website. Redesign’s must be well thought out in order to minimize a drop in traffic post launch. Of course there are a variety of factors that can contribute to a successful redesign. Just to name a few, setting up 301 redirects, making sure there are no 404 links, posting new content post launch to incentivize interaction with the new website, offering promotions of special offers to attract customers. The ultimate course of action will be determined by your goals and budget.
Here at C Dev we primarily work with two of the leading web platforms on the market today, WordPress and Shopify. Generally if a client is looking for a product-heavy website, we’ll lean towards Shopify as it has all the bells and whistles you’d expect from an out-of-the-box ecommerce platform. If the client is looking for more of an informational-based website, then oftentimes, we’ll steer them towards WordPress with its awesome open source capabilities. All that said, we’ll pick the right platform for our client’s specific situation and desires.
For any of our static, informational or brochure websites, we do provide quality hosting for an amazing price. You’ll find that our hosting is often times much cheaper than any of the current hosting platforms. We host websites as a curtesy to our client’s and not as a revenue generator.
Yes, we provide a range of client-specific store management packages. What we provide is based on our client’s unique situation and expectations. We create our monthly Shopify store management programs to match what our small business client’s are looking for.
